As we head into the weekend, we all probably dream of escaping to a coastal property for some R+R.
The Flinders House by Sharif Abraham Architects is a well designed example of just what a holiday house should be. The design was focused around how the exterior would be seen from the interior.
Large glass sliding doors visually connect the structure to the landscape, while the interior’s curvaceous shape connects the dwelling to Flinders Golf Course, located just next door.
Obviously the location and the use of shape are highlights, however what I really love is the designs ability to create such dynamic and interesting spaces (both internally and externally) with such a limited colour palette. The external timber cladding and internal timber veneers, combined with the black and white features, allow this design to remain simple yet dynamic. The strong contrast between the selected materials is a complete success.
